These are the promises we can keep, and how we keep them.
Security and privacy
The family’s data stays with the family.
We built SmartRelation for our own families. That makes security the starting point rather than an add-on.

Servers in the EU
All data is stored on our own servers within the EU and handled under the GDPR.

Encrypted
All traffic between your phone and the server is encrypted, and passwords are never stored in plain text.

Only your family sees
Every family is isolated in the database. Two linked families see only what you chose to share.

You own your data
Export or delete everything whenever you like, right in the app. We never sell data and never show ads.

What people ask.
Where is our data stored?
On our own servers within the EU. We use only a handful of providers, all under data processing agreements, and list them openly in the privacy policy.
Who sees my family’s information?
Only the people you have invited. Each family is separated in the database, and we have no advertisers or partners who get access to anything.
Is it GDPR compliant?
Yes. We only process what the app needs to work, store within the EU, have processing agreements with every provider and describe everything in a privacy policy written in plain language. We also deleted all data from the spring test before rebuilding, rather than migrating it.
Can I get my data out?
Yes. Under Settings → Privacy and account you download all your data as a file, whenever you like.
What happens if I want to stop?
You delete the account directly in the app. Your personal data disappears immediately, and backups are overwritten within 14 days. If you are the sole owner you can delete the whole family, and all content including files goes with it.
